Avtivities and Sun in December

Hi,
My family are going away at the beginning of December for my Mum's 60th birthday. We can't afford to go anywhere past Greece, Turkey, Spain sort of regions, and the weather seems to be 19 degrees max, so I think we need somewhere that has a lot of intereesting sights, plus activities to do when we can't sun ourselves on the beech.
Please let me know if you think of anywhere, there will be 10 adults, all pretty active people.
